Eco-Conscious Efforts & Ingredients

Not only are our handmade creations inspired by nature - they are crafted using all natural ingredients & renewable resources. In a world where big brands are constantly incorporating harmful substances into their formulas, our goal is to provide eco-friendly products that are safe for your home & those who reside there! We also strive to do everything we (feasibly) can to work with Nature in mind, never against it.

No B******* Ingredients!

  • The soy wax we use is grown here in the United States, and is free from additives. Unlike petroleum-based paraffin waxes, soy wax burns for a longer period of time, and emits no harmful emissions / substances into the air as it turns into vapor via the burning process.

  • Our wicks are pure cotton, and do not contain any lead or metals.

  • Candle Dressings & Herbal Blends are crafted using pesticide-free, organic plant material grown & ethically harvested in the United States via Mountain Rose Herbs.

  • All of our fragrance blends ( Candles & Space Mists alike ) are essential-oil based and never contain harmful chemicals, including phthalates, carcinogens, mutagens, animal derivatives, antimicrobials, and other unnecessary additional molecules like Formaldehyde, Parabens, and Alcohols. For a complete list of which chemicals our Moon Den aromatic blends will never contain, click here.

  • Lastly, the glass vessels we use are made in the United States, and should always be recycled or reused! To learn more about how to recycle & browse through some of our favorite uses for old jars, click here.

Sustainable Packaging

Being an online shop, one of our biggest eco-conscious endeavors has been the elimination of single use plastics & non-recyclable packaging materials. From the very beginning we have strived to be as eco-conscious as possible, reusing biodegradable packing peanuts from supply shipments, opting for standard cardboard packages instead of color coated boxes, etc…. and as of April 2023 we finally got our hands on recyclable water-based packing tape, making all materials used to package our physical goods completely biodegradable or 100% recyclable.

Other Carbon Footprint Reductions

In addition to our sustainable packaging efforts, we are constantly striving to reduce our carbon footprint within the structure of our small business. It might not seem like something so “necessary” due to our size… but let’s not be pessimistic! Any small improvement helps.

  • One of the main practices we’ve implemented is reducing the amount of delivery dispatch days. This means that we are shipping in bulk & transporting packages one to two times each month, rather than weekly or daily, to lower mileage & optimize our delivery process.

  • Most importantly, we make use of sunlight! We are grateful to be in a space with enough natural light to reduce the need for electricity during production days. We also use LED lighting (which reduces carbon emissions up to 70%), and sometimes will even work by candlelight. Not only is this a helpful practice in lowering our carbon footprint, but it is one that also helps us live in a way that is aligned with natural time... something we care deeply about!

  • Some of our future goals include teaming up with recycling organizations to eliminate waste like latex gloves, as well as completely eliminating the use of paper towels. We have already begun to transition to reusable supplies, and are hoping that these changes work well & move us forward at an exciting pace without inhibiting the manufacturing process (fingers crossed!).
